Keep East Goshen Beautiful Day
Saturday, April 17, 2010

The 25th Annual “Keep East Goshen Beautiful Day
is set for Saturday, April 17, 2010.

We have found it’s a great way to jump-start spring-cleaning
efforts in our neighborhoods
and throughout the Township.

You can help our Township keep its cleaner-than-average look and join with your neighbors and Township officials for a few hours that morning.  If you belong to a civic association, scout troop or similar organization or business, please contact us now and we’ll set up a stretch of road for your group.

The Planning Commission, and the Historical Commission had officially adopted dedicated stretches of State roads crossing our Township through the State Adopt-A-Highway Program.

Respectively, they cover East Strasburg Road, and Route 352 south of Paoli Pike.  Other local groups that participate in the State Program and are responsible for roads in our Township include the Phelps School and the West Goshen Lions Club (portions of Paoli Pk), Absolute Realty (West Chester Pk) and Clean Concepts (a portion of East Strasburg Rd).   We also appreciate the help from our West Goshen neighbor, the West Chester Christian School.

We thank our corporate friends for their efforts.

Individuals, families and groups should meet at the Township Building (1580 Paoli Pike) on that Saturday at 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM for coffee, juice, donuts muffins and fruit and to pick up supplies; we supply safety vests gloves and bags.  Then we head out at 9:00 AM to pick up roadside litter. This takes about two hours. Youngsters are encouraged to help as well. It is a great object lesson to have them see first hand what a messy habit littering is.  You will gain a sense of pride and accomplishment to have to have helped in this annual event.  We’ve found the day to be a great object lesson in “Don’t Litter”. Seeing the mess people make and how nice it looks with just a little effort seems to make an impression on everyone.

Please call the Township at 610-692-7171 to let us know you will help, to ask questions, or to reserve a particular stretch of road for your group, organization or family. Jack Yahraes, a member of the Municipal Authority chairs this project.  You can e-mail Jack Yahares or contacat him at 610-692-2285.

SEE YOU ON APRIL 17th!!
